The Grim Reaper

I have been bemoaning the way a generation seems to be passing to realm of memories only in 2011. This was after witnessing in swift succession the death of great personalities like Shammi Kapoor, Mansur Pataudi, Jagjit Singh, Bhupen Hazarika and Dev Anand in India and Steve Jobs outside. But I was not prepared for Death to come knocking home. My father in law also breathed his last- 22 Dec 2011. He had been in Pune with his elder daughter for the past four months or so, then he was in Bangalore for a week and finally returned to his home in Chennai accompanied by both his daughters, his wife and his grandson. He reached his home, supped and went to bed. He did not wake up again apparently due to a heart attack. There are many ways to philosophize on this- he died quietly without any apparent pain; everything seems to so perfectly planned- his dying at his pen home with his immediate family around him.. but eventually, he is no more and that's what the family agonizes over. Week ending 4 Dec 2011

The week through the first four days was all about work. I had little time away from there. But its good fun though. I am enjoying my current state at work- I am involved in discussing the architecture requirements for next generation of our product and looking at the timelines for those, working with junior developers in reviewing their problems and helping them with their code, supporting other teams in integrating with our product.. its all pretty satisfying. But thats not a big thing for my anyways. Appa came back to Bangalore on Thursday dropping Amma off at Agraharam. He remained busy with with either the Sai organization related work or with the translation of a spiritual book he is doing. It is good to see that he keeps himself fully engaged m...

Its now Week that was..

I am now going to use this blog more as a journal. I have been intending to put together something like a journal over the past couple of weeks. The reason for this is primarily because of the photos I take on my mobile. I enjoy taking photos and sharing them with people. I have my Picasa web albums where I share my photos. But the fact is that the photos there pertain to specific events which required me to snap on my digital camera, then organizing those on iPhoto and then uploading them as web albums. But what about the moments I click on my mobile? These usually do not pertain to events- web albums seem an overkill and I am not a social-apps guy to keep putting them on to those sites. I decided then that what made best sense was a diary-ish blog where I could capture a week in words with some photos I had taken through that week. This is the theme for this journal..
