Week ending 4 Dec 2011

The week through the first four days was all about work. I had little time away from there. But its good fun though. I am enjoying my current state at work- I am involved in discussing the architecture requirements for next generation of our product and looking at the timelines for those, working with junior developers in reviewing their problems and helping them with their code, supporting other teams in integrating with our product.. its all pretty satisfying. I guess this shows in my deliverables also. My boss has been gratifyingly vocal in her appreciation of my work and I am hoping that the year-end pickings with regard to remunerations also reflect my boss' apparent recommendations. But thats not a big thing for my anyways.

Appa came back to Bangalore on Thursday dropping Amma off at Agraharam. He remained busy with with either the Sai organization related work or with the translation of a spiritual book he is doing. It is good to see that he keeps himself fully engaged most of the time.

The changing season in Bangalore had its impact on me as I caught cold and then towards the weekend seemed to be afflicted with some internal fever. That pretty much messed up the weekend plans we had. I slept through most of Saturday and Sunday. But we did manage to get the time out to go and see The Adventures of Tintin a second time. It was Pammi's wish to see the movie a second time actually. We didn't mind and so there we were at the Forum Value Mall in Wihitefield on Saturday evening..

Thats Pammi, Appa and Aruna enjoying ice-golas there. We had this as soon as we reached the mall because our movie was at 7PM and we knew that we would want to rush home for dinner after the movie. Here are a couple of snaps with the movie poster..

A simple dinner later we hit the bed planing to visit Ashok Mama's place next (Sunday, thats today) morning.

I had a bad night and woke up feeling that foul taste in my mouth which means a mini-fever state. But we went ahead with our plan. We left at around 10 to Vijayanagar and spent about an hour-and-half there. Pammi enjoyed himself with Simbu the dog. Choppi had a slightly more severe attack of the same fever I had. She was literally shivering. Nikki looked fine.Good time with the kids..
We had lunch on the way back and I went into a deep sleep as soon as we came home. It was past 6 when I awoke. It was a lazy evening climaxing in a super dinner of fried potato with roti and a special serving of tawa-cooked vegetables. Yum stuff..

Oh- I forgot to mention that I awoke to the sad news of Dev Anand's demise today morning. Devsaab has been the actor we all have enjoyed most as a family. His movies have usually been breezy entertainers as compared to the heavier films of Dilip Kumar or the sugary-sugary social romances of Raj Kapoor. Pami put on Nau do gyaarah in the evening and we again enjoyed Dev Anand's breezy performance. I think this films defines Dev Anand best to me- casual, breezy and just plain fun to watch. It typifies the had fiqr dhue.n me uDaataa chalaa gayaa attitude. Alvida Dev saab !!

Books I am listening or reading right now
Hickory Dickory Dock (Agatha Christie) - Audio
Andromedia Strain (Micheal Crighton) - Book

Thats it for this week. I am all set to go back to sleep now.
